Since 1919, the Hiller Companies has taken the lead in the development, supply and service of fire and safety equipment. With growth, new products and services have been added to better serve our growing customer base. The Hiller Companies now provides contracting and other services in six business segments: fire detection and alarm, fire suppression, specialty flooring, insulation, service and commodities. Sales are to marine, airlines, industrial and commercial customers on a worldwide basis. The business segments can be generally described as follows:

Fire Detection and Alarm
The Hiller Companies design, sell and install fire detection and alarm systems in the commercial, industrial and marine markets. Architects, consulting engineers or end users develop projects. We often aid customers in the early design stages or design and supply a system to meet the requirements of a general specification and the pertinent regulations. Companies such as Ansul, Fike, Xtralis (VESDA), Detector Electronics, Notifier, Gamewell and FCI supply Hiller products. The equipment we provide includes control panels, smoke detectors, gas detector and other alarm initiating devices, early warning systems, horns and strobes. The Hiller Companies provides full installation of the equipment, including necessary wiring, or simply provides the final termination and checkout. Security ad communication systems can also be provided or integrated into the alarm system. We supply and install closed circuit television monitoring (CCTV), and access sound systems, nurse call and other communication equipment. Protection is provided for commercial buildings, hospitals, nursing homes, industrial plants, casinos, and commercial, cargo and military ships.

Fire Suppression
In addition to the detection and alarm systems, the Hiller Companies can provide fire suppression systems of varying types depending upon the application. We work with architects, consultants or end users to determine the most cost-effective approach, providing for both life safety and equipment protection and meeting the pertinent regulations. The fire suppression systems can utilize not only water sprinklers, but non-toxic chemicals such as FM-200, inerting gases such as Inergen™ and CO-2, foam, dry chemical or combinations of systems. Fires are suppressed in Computer Rooms, Telecommunication Facilities, Clean Room Wet Benches and Tools, Aircraft Hangers, Kitchen Hoods, Dust Collectors, Machinery, Military and Commercial Ship Engine Rooms, and Aircraft hangers. The commercial, industrial and marine markets are pursued. Companies, such as Ansul, Kidde Fire Systems, install the necessary controls, piping, and wiring required to assure our customers complete confidence in the Hiller fire suppression systems.
- Specialty Flooring
Some of the Hiller Companies are involved in the supply and installation of specialty flooring systems, usually those requiring hand troweling of the flooring materials. We work with architects and end users in the commercial, industrial and marine markets. Hiller systems are installed in hospitals, grocery stores, warehouses, food processing plants, schools, and showers, kitchens and decks of military and commercial ships and casino boats. Our suppliers include Crossfield Products and American Safety Technologies. Seamless floors, antimicrobial floors, terrazzo floors, gym floors, wall systems, non-skid marine decking, chemical resistant coatings, and waterproofing are provided. We also supply and install tile and carpeting.
- Insulation
One of our division’s supplies and installs insulation for a variety of military and commercial ships, including casino boats. We work with architects, joiners, and end users to develop cost-effective approaches which meet pertinent regulations for hull, piping, ducting and other insulation requirements. Our expertise includes working with the following types of insulation: fire, acoustic, thermal, mechanical, sandwich, polyimide, and removable/reversible blanket. A variety of facings are used when required, and sheating can also be provided. For each project, a computerized material purchasing and tracking system is sutilized to reduce waste. Offsite precutting and sizing is used to maximize production efficiency.
- Service
The Hiller Companies service what we sell. Each company has a service organization that provides routine and emergency maintenance for the fire suppression and detection systems supplied. We also service and recharge fire extinguishers for all market areas; including commercial buildings, restaurants, semiconductor facilities, industrial plants, oil platforms and ships. Our personnel are factory trained by our key suppliers, NICET approved and we maintain DOT approved hydrostatic testing, Dry Chemical, CO-2, FM-200 and Inergen.
- Commodities
The Hiller Companies also sell a variety of products and parts to support our customers. These products include portable and fixed fire extinguishers, hoses, hose reels, nozzles, foam and other materials and equipment involved in fire detection and suppression. We also provide safety equipment such as gloves, masks, air breathing apparatus and other similar items. These products are sold from inventory or shipped directly to our customers from our vendors. Suppliers include Elkhart, Akron Brass, Survivair, Amerex, Ansul and Kidde/Fenwal.
